Red Paper Kite is new, tiny independent press based in Perth, WA
We only publish picture books.
A book is a tool to learn, be inspired, create, grow. And have fun.
If it's yours, do whatever you like with it.
Red Paper Kite was established in 2019 by French illustrator Sandra van Doorn who, as a child, scribbled in all her schoolbooks. It got her into much trouble, but she firmly argued it was supposed to be that way. Today it can be that way: by adding colour-in pages to our stories, we gives everyone space (and permission) to draw and scribble in books, inspiring children and grown-ups alike to be the illustrator and the author.
Books with a little "je ne sais quoi"
We are passionate about what we do, so much so, we love to share our creative process. Our endpapers celebrate the monumental preliminary work that goes into creating a book, giving our books a unique artisanal feel.
A small office somewhere, anywhere - with a world view.
We believe cultural diversity helps create richer narratives. Red Paper Kite is committed to celebrating multicultural diversity.
At the core of everything we do, is a deep respect for the beautiful humans we work with.
And the planet we call home. Our books are printed with soy ink on FSC approved paper.
